Have a 84 Bronco II that just started acting at times like it is starving for fuel.

It idles smooth and accelerates fine but at constant speed it acts like I backed off the gas, then goes just fine. I'm thinking bad fuel pump or vaccuum or ???

The carb was overhauled a year ago, it doesn't have an inline fuel filter (Ca. model)

Also, the wiring loom has alot of old dried out wiring with cracks, does anyone know of an after market wiring harnes manufacturer?

Whaja think?

Thanx

Hi ddr

Your problem sounds very similiar to what plagued my '87 2.9L V6 for many years. But I think the fix may be different, as my vehicle has EFI, not a carb. Problem was cyclic sputtering of the motor, like the gas was being cut off, especially at constant speed/low load conditions. Turned out to be a faulty oxygen sensor which was feeding back a bad signal and the control system was cutting fuel to the injectors. I simply disconnected the O2 sensor and the problem disappeared instantly. You have a carburetted engine, but if there is any type of control feedback loop from an O2 sensor (or other emissons type sensor), you might want to check it out.

Best of Luck
