We recently replaced the battery in my daughter's 88 broncoII. Now it won't start isn't pumping any fuel. I have tried to reset the safety switch under the dash but it won't reset, at least its not staying pushed in. How do you get them to reset or how do you tell if they have gone bad? I followed the direction in the manual but that didn't work. Really don't want to take it to mechanic again and be charged for a new fuel pump.

Have you tried bypassing the switch? If that takes care of the problem, replace the switch. Do not leave it bypassed. The switch is intended to keep the pump from pumping gas all over the engine in the event of an accident.
