American Rebel
4x4 Trail Master
I broke my driver side motor mount. How it happened, I don't know, but the plate that holds the engine bolt mount to the frame crossmember is gone. That wasn't the problem, it was the fact that the motor had torqued the bolt out of the hole and it was sitting above the hole on the crossmember itself. So, that caused the engine to move upwards, and the fan was hitting the shroud, causing a loud clicking noise.
So, since the fan was hitting the shroud, it was slowing the fan down causing the engine to overheat.
I got the bolt back through the crossmember hole just a minute ago. I took a long pipe, placed it on top of the motor mount on the engine, and used a 5lb. sledge hammer. I hit the pipe really hard, and the engine mount crossmember bolt slid right back into the hole. So now the motor is sitting properly like it should so I can now get it to my automotive class shop.
Anyone ever had problems with engine mounts?
