One brake light works, the passenger side one, the other doesn't.

However, when the headlights are on, both lights are on. So it is Not burned out.

Also, when the headlights are on the tail lights are on full and nothing more happens when brakes are applied. This doesn't seem right that the brakes and headlights share the same light at the same brightness. Is this a wiring problem the previous owner might have done?

Haven't taken a good look yet. Will do tomorrow.

Just thought I'd get any advice I could beforehand seeing as I know jack about auto-electrical.

Thanks!

Be aware that the tail lights, and brake lights are a single bulb with a double filament. It is like two bulbs in one.

One brake light works, the passenger side one, the other doesn't.

check driver's bulb

check connection at socket

However, when the headlights are on, both lights are on. So it is Not burned out.

Wrong... the brake filament may have burned out, and the tail light filament is still good.

Also, when the headlights are on the tail lights are on full and nothing more happens when brakes are applied. This doesn't seem right that the brakes and headlights share the same light at the same brightness. Is this a wiring problem the previous owner might have done?

There are two filaments. One is a little longer than the other, and one (I think) is a little brighter. If the previous owner rewired the sockets, and wired it such that the brighter filmant goes on with the headlights, then one should still see a little additional brightness when one applies the brakes, as the second filament gets power. IF both filaments are on when the headlights are on, then there is a short somewhere joining both filaments. Come to think of it, if there is a short joining both filaments, then when one applies the brakes it should short in that direction also.

Yeah... you're going to have to do some troubleshooting, and make closer observations, because some of what you said is happening, isn't making sense.

try to wiggle the turn signal lever while you have your foot on the brake, if there is a short or something wrong with the switch it will usually cause one side to not work, you can wiggle it until you get both brake lights to work and then not use turn signals until you fix the switch

Thanks, Joe..

So I took a look, and when the headlights are on, both filaments are on in the driver's side bulb. And none when the brakes are applied..

The wiring doesn't look very old or worn and obviously the bulb is sitting in fine, where should I check the wiring towards the fuses..?

Or should I consult a detailed manual about Bronco wiring..?

And thanks Vegas, I've been fiddling with the blinker switch which also needs replacement, we'll see if that'll help anything. :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

IF you know that you have an issue with your directional switch, I would start there.

Some trucks have one, others have two blinkers/flashers/hazard http://www.autozone.com/images/products/tri/tri552003.jpg

Some have One for the hazards, one for the directionals.

Otherwise, I don't know... check the wiring by the headlight switch, and there is a connector behind the driver's side tailight in the newer bronco's maybe in your's also.

Good luck with this one.
