picture_5_.jpgI just had my rotors changed last week after brake failure. The outer disc surface was gone exposing the inner ribs of the rotor. (proud moment) The mechanic doing the job said when the hubs were installed the lower caliper retaining pins on the calipers were reversed (according to my mechanic). This caused the brake pads to move resulting in total failure (and destruction) of the right rotor, and damage to the left. I had the hubs changed (from auto to warn manual) in January. Also had the bearings check (ie removal of caliper and rotor I think)

The heat generated from this caused the hub to warp (go out of round) which made getting the bearing pack out interesting.

The rotors were new in 2002, and checked when the hubs were installed. The Corp. Office guy said the pins were reversable (same either way). If anyone knows the "real deal" could help me clear this up.

Thanks very much

I have never seen one that bad, what year truck is it? You didn't hear anything prior to the failure  ? Glad you didn't get hurt.

Good luck,

:)>-

by reversed you mean left side=> right side and vice versa, or meaning they were installed in the top of the caliper bracket rather than the top. if its the former, then the mechanic is yanking your chain. if the latter, slap whoever installed your hubs
