So, I recently purchased new rear brake drums, because the original drums are rusted and are a bit of an eyesore. I want to prevent my new drums from becoming rusted and have decided to paint them with anti rust paint, but I'm not quite sure of the process. Do I need to put on a anti rust base coat and then spray on a couple of anti rust layers. Or can I just spray a couple of layers of clear anti rust paint?

You need to us a high temperature paint or it will just discolor and burn off. I would use a rust preventative base like "Picklex" http://picklex20.com/ . I've used it for numerous applications and have never been disappointed. It is a great prep before painting any metal, just follow the instructions.

Good luck,

:)>-
