yo T,

A big coincidence that you posted the ad because I may relpace my lower and intermed shafts (on the Bronco, not I)

I contacted Borgeson directly by their on-line message feature and asked if it would fit Same Year Broncos;

"will your 1992-1996 Ford F-150, F-250 and F-350 heavy duty telescopic steel steering shaft, Part # 000981 Fit? If not, do you have a part # for one? Here is the 96 Bronco steering shaft diagram http://www.thedieselstop.com/faq/9497faq/maint/stj/images/g9055b.gif

Item Part Number Description

1 3504 Steering Gear

2 3F540 Steering Gear Shield (Lower)

3 N803942-S100 Bolt

4 3C662 Lower Steering Column Shaft

5 3F540 Steering Gear Shield (Upper)

6 3E751 Intermediate Steering Column

7 N803942-S100 Bolt

8 N803942-S100 Bolt

9 3D677 Seal Assembly

A Tighten to 41-57 Nm (30-42 Lb-Ft)

They replied very quickly w/: "The 000981 does look like it would fit but we should probably verify the length. What’s the approximate installed length of the stock Bronco shaft?"

I believe the F 150 and others F series and van that have the same steering sys & TTB set-up as the 92-96 Broncos (and prob earlier years) should interchange.

I emailed Borgeson about this specific item, and asked which would fit my bronco, here is the reply:

"You could use our 000980 or 000985 shafts but you might have to cut the shaft length down a bit. They are about 33” long when fully extended and about 26” collapsed."

I also contacted the seller of the Borgeson Steering shaft in this specific posting for sale and he said that the item number is #000985.

Looks like I have a match, but I have one question, Where exactly would I need to cut, I understand why, but I don't understand where, how much, how, and is it okay, can I do it myself?

yo T,

I e-mailed them too and they asked for dimensions.

I also spoke w/a Yard friend who said they should fit; he will take measurements from a 92-96 Bronco when one comes in.

Borgeson should know all the dimensions & not ask customers to provide details.

If I can get the measurements, I'll post them here.
