i have a 1983 ford bronco with bad body problems like bad rust on the feners and the bottem of the tell gate and i have been told that i can either to just put on fender flares with my paint job or to just put new sheet metel and weld it in but i wont to know what would be the best for the long run

The best thing in the long run is to cut out all the rust and put new metal on it. Anything less is just a temporary cover up and it will be back to haunt you with even a bigger job to save it.

Good luck,

If you haven't already completed the repairs the best thing to do would be to replace the fenders assuming they are the front fenders and the tail gate. All 3 are bolt on componants and rust repair on thewse is a waste of time. The 1/4 panels also called rear fenders by some are weld on componants and would require removal of the rusted area and then about 3 to 4 inches of non rusted metal. Be sure to treat the old and new metal with a rust inhibitor after the new metal has been welded in. also use a weld through primer 3M makes a good one before you weld the repalcement panels in.

Keep in mind that once the rust starts you can slow it down but most likely never get it completly stopped. The key is getting it all removed and most people don't want to go that far. Like removing and replacing inner and outer wheelhouses if needed.

Good Luck
