I have a 91 Bronco 5.8 L and E4OD. I was going thru some water/snow and the OD cancel switch light starts blinking. The motor began to "chug" but I limped it home. I unhooked the positive cable to let it reset the computer, but it is still blinking. Any ideas?

Resetting the computer won't affect the Overdrive Cancel Switch. You probably screwed up your transmission, since I heard the sensor may be inside the transmission. You probably shorted it out, and fried it, water can do that.

My wife's car does that sometimes. It seems to be a temperture sensitive speed sensor. Her's is OK if it doesn't get too hot out. Check you codes, see if it shows up there, her's did.

Good luck,

Thanks for the replys. The problem I was experiencing happened back before Thanksgiving. This is a toy Bronco for me and I did not have a chance to look at it until this weekend. Turns out we had a couple of days where things must have warmed up enough to dry/melt whatever was causing the trouble. Took it out this weekend and it drove great, had no problems at all. When it warms up enough to do so I will try and recreate the problem with a hose and see what areas I need to water proof. What code reader do I want to get for this year Bronco (91)? Thanks again.

I'm not sure which code reader you will need, but if you go to some place like Auto Zone, I'm susre they can sell you the right one to read it with. Better yet just borrow theirs.

Good luck,

:)>-
