So what is the best option? Rebuild kit, which I can only guess which may require some machining, or new hinges? My driver door is sagging enough that the body creases are not aligned and I dont want to do any further damage.

Thanks:

shim the hinges at either the body or the door using thin washers, and loosen the stricker bushing and re align it with the new shimmed door latch height.

you can either shim just the bottom hinge or the bottoms of the top and bottom hinge to compensate for the pin and bushing wear.

the only other thing is to remove your old pins by taking out any clips and driving them out, or cutting the pins and removing them that way. with the door off you use a hammer and a punch to remove all the old bushings, use a hammer to lightly tap the new bushings into place, then install the new pins and reinstall the clips. to replace the bushings and pins in both doors is about $25 and only takes an hour or two.

What shape is the A post? Is it rusted out at the base?
Good luck,

:)>-
No rust at all, it's just that the door "drops" a little just after it is opened and the body seems don't line up. I can also see a little bit of daylight between the door and weather seal on the leading edge in front of the vent window so the whole door is somewhat tilted back I guess.

Cheap and simple. get a block of wood and a high lifting floor jack. get to the back edge of the door and lift up on it with your jack, and place the wood so as you dont bend the door metal. it will gently put the door back to a good setting. just dont jack too much and warp the doors or hinges.

let me know if you need some pics, and ill get some for ya.

I think you have to cut the old door pins to get thtem out, or grind the head off and punch them out. I should have a thread on modifying the hinges for quick-disconnect pins using 3/8" bolts. i did this to my 84 and 78 Broncos. It requires pulling the door off and unbolting the hinges, but once that's done you can either go back with factory pins or the bolts. Have at least one buddy if not two to help, as the door weighs about 75-80 pounds and is hard to move around to get the new pins/ bolts in place. JSM84
