OK my passangers side bearing is STUCK in the axle tube, its stuck good enough to break my slide hammer :( /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" /> any Ideas besides heating the end of the axle tube to make it easier. I had a shop in Ny replace the bearings for me before we left and I think they put the Wrong bearings in. they used the bearings and seal as one and I think they must have had to really hammer this thing in there. Any Ideas? I will take pics and post when I'm done

Die grinder with a cutoff wheel cut the outer race in 2 places to remove it and the bearings and then cut the inner race carefully once it breaks through the pressure will be released and the inner race should slide right off . :D /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

I'm either going to have to do that or use a Sawzal :-" They did put the wrong bearings and seal in this thing is way wider then the bearing that go in there and if I was still in Ny I would be having a talk with the shop [-X I'll get pics of the mayhem and post them when I get the new bearings in.

OOOPS for some reason I was thinking front axle bearings if its the rear your going to have alot more fun than that . I guess you could still use a die grinder with a carbide burr and cut the inner race then get the rollers out then carefully cut the outer till it just breaks through and the pressure should be relaesed so the outer race will come out . Good luck on the sawzall those bearings are hard and your going to be very lucky if the blade even starts to cut it . You could take a torch and heat the housing that would get it to let go of the bearing . :D /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

Well the Sawzal didn't work <_< but I did pick up some 1.5 and 2 in cutoff wheels that should do the trick, the hard thing will be getting to the back side of the bearing race, I'm hoping I can cut most of the way back and that will releave the pressure and let the bearing come out of the axle. I'm just don't need to hit the axle tube  I don't have the money for a 10.5 to replace the 8.8

try heating it up, the shop might have used Green Loc-tite. The heat will alow it to expand and melt anything that might be in there.

I had to use the Green stuff on an old D44 when the pinion bearing race was spinning. Added a bunch and it took some serious pounding to get it back out years later. Held up quite well for a race that could be installed my hand!

BEaring is OUT :p /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" /> 1.5in cutoff wheel and a Hammer later and its out I only nicked the axle tube alittle and that will be covered with the seal and alittle permatex. I have some pics of the bearing before and after it came out I'll put them in my superford pages as soon as I find my USB cable for the Camera
