basic performance upgrades?

Hey guys I am a newbie here and I am finally ready to start making my Bronco better after owning it for 5 years. I have an 89 Bronco full size. It has the 4.9L 300 6 cylinder in it. Motor runs pretty good but I wanted to try to get a little more out of it. I was thinking maybe an air intake system and/or ignition system. I would love to go for a bigger motor but it is not in the budget and I was hoping someone could give me a few ideas. I need to do a little at a time to keep the wife happy. I want to put some 33's on it but would like a little more power first. Thanks for any input.

I've got that same engine in my bronco with 33X12.50's on it. It does OK with the bigger tires. You've just got to realize that the 4.9 liter engine was made for torque and not speed. It does really good on trails and mountains, but isn't ever going to win any drag races. If that's what you want, get you a 351.
