I got a problem and don't know what else to do, the 92 bronco starts fine when it's cold, but as soon as it warms to the right temp, it starts like crap it cranks for awhile but does start, with the idle jumpy and when I'm driving at the reg speed and barely push the gas it starts to sputter, if I hit the gas it runs great I changed the rotor, cap, plugs, wires, air&fuel filter, the truck has new heads but it had the same problem before the new heads,

please someone help

Funny.. I'm having the same issues..though mine starts fine.

Just can't seem to figure out how much gas it wants, and what RPM to run at.. but does run great when you give it more gas especially if you kick it down a gear and get the RPMs up to 1500+

Also new plugs/wires/fuel&air filters

Going on a 1600 mile trip in a few days..would love to fix the issue before I leave <_<

Anybody try checking for codes? Could be a number of things, but if I had to guess, I would look at the O2 sensor. I have seen them go bad and cause a similar problem, without triggering the light or sometimes without even setting a hard fault in the computer. This is just a guess though.

Well, I guess all three of us have been stricken with this plague. Good luck to you guys diagnosing it. I've been having a similar problem with mine. There are a few replies in my thread that you might check on yours. http://broncozone.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=19393

Mine's not throwing any codes and just misses a little bit, but starts up fine. Good luck. Hope this helps.

I've been researching the internet for answers..

so far I've come up with this: IAC (Idle Air Control Valve)..you can clean it or buy a new one for $23 at local autopart store - Located just to the right of the throttle body next to the intake tube. A few inches long, circle shape.

http://fullsizebronco.com/forum/showthread.php?t=25878

OR

Fuel Pressure Regulator - $30 somethin part at autopart store. They say you can check it by removing the vacume hose and see if you see/smell fuel in the vacume line which will tell you if it's leaking or not, but I think to truley find out if it's bad is a fuel pressure test. Unfortantly I don't have a fuel pressure guage to test with..

My brother had a 95 ******, ad his Lil car did the same thing,

soon as he changed it, it worked great

maybe.. I'm replacing mine tomorrow..or after I get to my destination next week. Truck runs like a champ at highway speeds and I'll only be stopping 2, maybe 3 times to fill up with gas to reach Seattle.

I'm cleaning my IAC tonight, and try that tomorrow. FPR is a cheap part..be god to just change it anyway I suppose...

As 50Joe advised earlier in this thread; has anyone checked for trouble codes?

I pulled the vacume hose off the FPR last night and stuck a q-tip in there. A quick visual of inside the hose showed no moisture what so ever. I smelled the q-tip and not even a hint of gasoline - However to my understanding, this can still be going out as this test only tests for leaks. There could still be problems internal effecting the performance of the motor.

I just pulled my hose and didn't have a hint of anything either, but I'm headin to the parts store and swap out the "fpr" valve, I'll let you know how it works,

I found my solution!!

It was the Cap and Rotor (Ignition). Rotor looked somewhat fine..probably another good 5k miles out of it, but the cap didn't look good at all. There was corrosion on there and black soot near the center connection point.

Anywho, so off to the store I went, got a new cap an rotor and replaced. Ran the truck, drove it around a bit, then came home an satw ith it idling. Idles smooth as could be at 700rpm.

..and to think it was perfect again. Huge oil leak! The bolt for the bracket that holds my oil dipstick in place, came loose. So part of the dipstick came out, allowing oil to somewhat pour its way out onto the exhaust/ground. A simple adjustment, tighten the bolt, major oil leak went bye bye just as quick as it came!

so I put in the fpr valve, mine was screwed, it fixed the problem drove and idled alot better but then I got the damn check engine light on, I finaly was able to hook up the reader, and it tells me insufficient egr flow so now I'm sitting here rippin my hair out of my head, I'm confused, I have a brand spanken new egr valve, I changed the idle control valve, works better, but I'm still, stiillllll in the duuuhhhrrrr stage,

still idles alil funny, so I feel like I'm back at square one,

going back to the parts store and figuring out what the **** they gave me,

Check yoru cap and rotor. It's just two clips that hold it together..

see if there is any white on your connections. My idle was trippy by 200rpm or so.. not much, but enough to notice. That fixed my issue.

I used to get codes all the time, and a flashing check engine light all the time. Said it was EGR this, EGR that.. I didn't even touch it. Eventually it just went away. Today, checked my codes, and in the past 1.5yrs nothing about an EGR

You have low flow.

clean the vacuum lines that go to and from it.

You'll be smiling soon. :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />
