Bad NEWS bronco

Sadly my 302 police intercepter motor has blown the head gaskets. THe engine has 173k on it so i am wondering wether i should have a rebuild done and have the motor bored out or upgrade to a 351w also i was wondering is a swap from a 302 to 351w can be done withought buying new wiring harness?

According to some guys who know this stuff in and out;

Computer - You must get a 5.8L computer from a truck just like your 5.0L. If you have a E4OD transmission you must get a 351 computer from an E4OD truck. You should be able to get this off a junkyard truck just like the intake. Just don't get one that was on a flood damaged vehicle .. by RRyan M

Is that 5.0 Police... a swapped in engine?

because of TFI issue..

Wiring harness... if TFI is mounted on da distributor and the 5.8 replacement has TFI mtd on inner fender near driver side hood hinge; you'll need to entend harness to it..

& if Both are EFI & EECIV.. the 5.8 isn't a 96 w/OBD II, the current harness should be ok considering the TFI

sorry still learning. if you want more tork use the 5.8. but you will sacrifice millage. the 5.0 will take alot of work to get as much tork. i have a 5.0 in my truck and it does fine with 33 tires. it would be simpler to rebuild what you have.

I would consider just to rebuild what you have, that way you can have it built to your tastes and everything is already there. If you swap for a used motor, you never know how long it will last before it will need rebuilding.
