Does anyone know how I can get a new or used axle vent line adapter. The metal piece that plugs in at the top of the axle. I got a 77 and I guess it came loose and fell out. This looks like its going to be a hard find especially since its on the 9" rearend. Any ideas or suggestions?

I'd try the local wrecking yard... almost any 9" vent should fit...l
Yea, I tried the wrecking yards and no luck. I need the top piece that plugs into the square housing that threads into the top of the axle. The square piece looks like it vents for the brakes and this top piece plugged into that and also serves as a vent. Is there any good Ford 9" axle parts websites. Still looking...

Thanks,

The fitting you refer to actually serves two purposes....

The first is the diff vent, the second is that block.. the block is actually the tee for your rear brake lines.

The fitting holds that in place, but doesn't vent the lines.

It should only be one piece (unless yours is broken) they actually thread into the diff housing.

JBG has two:

I am sure the other vendors have them as well...

Thanks for the info. The only question is that Tee or block doesn't have threads at the top. How does the diff. vent connect to the Tee? I did find one like in the JBG link you posted but it won't thread down into that Tee. The old one I had, before it got lost I believed had some sort of prongs on it for tension and just pushed down into the top hole of the Tee. I got a 77 uncut and I had my rear leaf springs rearched and had a extra leaf installed also along with a rear 1" block for some added lift in the back. I think when they lifted the body for the block that piece didn't get installed properly and then came out. Do you think the one that JBG has will work? How about the Tee will I need to replace that also so the new vent will thread into it?

Thanks,

The fitting doesn't thread into the block, the block is machined large enough to just fit over the fitting, the fitting threads into the differential.

Yea thanks for the info. I noticed the threads on the vent broke off right outside the axle so I pulled the block off and luckily there is enough threads left so I can remove it. I got one from the junkyard but its clogged. I think I'll just get a new one from either JBG or WH. Looks like I'm going to have to replace the rubber hose also its pretty brittle.
