How hard is it to rebuild these. My bronco has a ticking noise at low speeds coming from the front end. Can't tell if its hubs or bearings. anyone have a clue. Are the auto locking hubs good or bad. :( /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

Yo Cajun!

Hope all is good there! Spent time in Gul with NAVAMPHIB groups and miss the Gulf

Unfortunately; as Matt wrote, "How come the hubs on my 87-88 Bronco are different than other Broncos?

This was another of Ford's better ideas. For '87 and '88 Ford used a one-piece locking hub assembly. This hub simply sits between the wheel and brake rotor and is held in place by the wheel studs. This type of hub is very easy to remove (simply remove the wheel), but it is different from all other Broncos and therefore parts and replacement hubs are expensive and hard to find.

To convert your 87-88 Bronco to the "standard" hubs you'll need to swap all the parts from the spindle out from a Bronco or F-150. It may even be possible to take these parts from any vehicle with a Dana 44 front axle and the same wheel bolt pattern as the Bronco (5 on 5.5"). If you are considering this swap it would be a good time to consider the 8 lug axle swap you've always wanted (see section 10.2). "

Honesly i had the same thing happend to me on my auto lockin hubs and i went and rebuild them once and they lasted about a year then they started moaning again so i went and got some warn manual lockin hubs and they really arent hard to put on if you have ever repacked your bearings which you should be doing everytime you get in deep mud but ne ways most of all of my friends that have autos switch to manuals even though its alot easier to just hit the button instead of havin to get out of your car everytime and remember to cut them off but i would go ahead and get the manuals they are alot better and its not hard to install them...
