 Hi, all....I own a 1989 bronco II auto 2.9L 4x4 with a auto switch. The problem I am having is that the 4x4 will not engage at all thw switch does not light up nore do I hear it trying to engage. I looked under to see if the drive shaft was there as I know some people remove them. I just got the truck two weeks ago for three hundred bucks no rust in very good condition except for this issue if anyone can lead me in the right direction it would be great.

You most likely need to rebuild your shift motor. It's mounted on the back of the T-case. This is a very common problem with the 2gen BII's, Rangers and 1st gen Explorers.

I have a rebuilt motor for an explorer that might work and solve your problems if you don't want to fix yours.
