aod to c4 swap

i have a 89 bronco with a AOD and 1356e transfercase. i just rebuilt my first tranny and now its acting up, im looking for a new transmision now and my question is the c4 a better tranny than the AOD? a local junkyard has a 2wd c4 for 200 bucks and im woundering what transfer case i need to match the splines?

you will have to change the output shaft on a 2wd to make it mate up with a transfer case because the shaft lengths are different, its easier to use a 4x4 trans, I would recommend fixing the one you got, getting a new aod or upgrading to an e4od. the c4 is a 3 speed trans meant for cars. most trucks and broncos used the c6's which I hear are built a little tougher.

yeah i really want a c6 but i just saw the c4 laying there and thought it might work, thanks
