AOD/BW1356 gasket

Hey guys, I'm getting ready to reassemble this collection of parts in my driveway and realized I still had a question. What are you guys doing for a gasket between the tranny & transfer case ? I ck'd at the parts store when I picked up my AOD filter/gasket kit and they told me it was a dealer-only part. Do I need this gasket or does a good thick bead of silicone work ? Better still what about the Loctite form-a-gasket red that I have an almost full tube of ? Is the gasket necessary or what ? I'm just a stones throw from a dealership so I could go down & order one but do I *need* it ?

I never use a gasket on the t-case adapter, but you cannot buy a new one, afaik. Make your own or use the gasket-forming compound if you so desire, JSM84

Thanks. I kinda thought that might be the case. I'm always a little hesitant to just use silicone or gasket compound, I think I'm going to look around for a roll of gasket material, cut my own & then use gasket compound or silicone on both sides. I also have a sheet of 1/16" teflon that I used to use for head gaskets on minature engines and I'm thinking that might work pretty well.

I Had to replace that same gasket on mine and it was a "dealer only Item". Instead I just used a bead of Permatex RTV gasket maker(black silicone). It worked fine and never had a problem.
