clear all the debris off the sensors that might be the cause

Is it RABS or ABS, you might be looking at two totally different systems...
But, the concept is the same...
I'd look at the proportioning valve located on or near the frame rail below the master cylinder.... The piston that regulates the pressure to all of the wheels might have become offset a little causing too much pressure to the wheels, causing the wheels to lock up....
But, here's where the RABS and the ABS differ...
If it's the ABS, you might have a faulty regulator valve on the accumaltor... That thing builds up the pressure in the system, and the regulator valve controls the pressure on the system, and if that fails, the pump might create too much pressure causing a lock up at certain speeds...
If it's RABS, check the control valve mounted on the rear axle, that can go bad easily...
You said a ring.... hmm... sounds like a RABS system, was the speed sensor mounted on the rear differential?
If it is in fact RABS, then let me know, I got an entire guide to how to fix it...
RABS by the way stands for Rear Anti-Lock Brake System, which only controls the rear wheels, keeping them from locking up....
