Hi all. Can someone tell me which side of the engine the alternator is located on on a 85 bronco with a 300 inline 6?

I went to the junkyard today to see about the emissions stuff that I need, the guy from the junk yard went out with me. We found a 86 f150 6 cyl. the alternator was on the passenger side of the engine. He said that they are always mounted on pas. side. The alt on my 85 is on the drivers side. could it have been moved because of clearance problems with the offenhauser intake manifold for the 4 brl carb?

Thanks, Bill

100_0659.jpgHi all. In addition to my post, here are 2 pics of my engine compartment. 1 pic of the pass. side and 1 of the drivers side. I can now see that maybe the fender well cover may have interfered with the original alt location. Any one else think that this is the reason for the alt location change?

sorry for the way my replys are. I'm new to this forum and had some trouble putting in pictures. I think I figured it out now so future pics inside posts should show up normal.

If you don't want to include the previous post in your new one drop down one more line and hit the "add reply", button. That will open up a screen without the previous post. You use the "reply" button directly under a post to include the previous post as a quote.

He is right, does the bracket look flipped or fabricated?

Wait, what I see is an A/C compressor on the driver side. The alternator should be mounted low on the passenger side or is it below the compressor?

Hi all. Boy am I looking and feeling like a total idiot!!!!! My brain must have melted when I asked about the alternator location. Alternator is where it is supposed to be. I appologize for the wasted space on this forum and for your wasted time responding to my question.

Very red face. Bill :-B
