I hit a stump that was hidden in some leaves with my front left tire. When I hit it, the steering wheel spun around and jammed my thumb. I hit the stump pretty hard. When I got back out on pavement, my steering wheel was cocked about 80 deg as if I was turning right. While driving, I let go of the wheel for a while and it held a straight line with no problem. Does this sound like an alignment or did something slip in the steering box?

I gave everything a good look. Nothing appeared bent. It still drives perfectly straight and there is no play in the steering. I think I will just pull the steering wheel and set it back to neutral position. I just wanted to make sure there wouldn't be anything that wasn't obvious that could come back to haunt me.

Yes, I would definitely take a look at the drag link and rest of the steering linkage, as it's quite easy to bend something on a stump. You can check the toe-in yourself with a tape measure to see if it's off. Find a good spot on the edge or middle of the front of one tire, then measure across to the same spot on the other tire. Do the same again on the back side of the tires. You should have a slight toe-in of 1/4 to 1/2 inch, JSM84

Thanks, I'll check that when I get home. I'm at work now. Decided to go wheeling with a co-worker on my lunch break. That's when I hit the stump. :D /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />
