hey,

I have a '75 351 conversion with a Holley Street Avenger 650 4 bbl sitting on it.

The problem is the recommended 14" diam air cleaner collides with the plug leads on the distrib cap - so it wont seat properly...

I cant use a seat extension collar because the cleaner is already bang up against the hood (WH Classic Scoop - a big scoop).

Anyone got a fix for this problem ?

I was thinking of swapping out to an oval air cleaner - but heres the silly part - i dont know if oval cleaners are supposed to run front to back (which will still hit the distrib), or side to side, which will clear the distrib.

so there u go

i know a bunch of you guys have Holleys on 351's

so how are you getting the air cleaner to seal.

thx, Monza.

I had the same prob. with the edelbrock.....(& no hood scoop)

It hit the hood (but not the dist.) When I installed thinner spacers under the carb...the bottom filt. plate hit the throttle linkage.

Honestly, can't remember how I solved this BUT, had I known about an oval filter & housing, I would have done that in a heartbeat..!!

The carb. doesn't care how it (filter) sits on there.....even on a 45 deg. angle would be fine. If it will fit & clear...go for it.
