I want to replace my stock air cleaner so I bought an Edelbrock pro flo air cleaner. It's 3 inches tall if you count the bowl and less than 2.5" if you don't count the bowl. I have the stock motocraft 2 barrel carb with no extras, and no hood scoop.

Is this air cleaner gonna hit the hood. I put it on top of the carb and lowered the hood and tried to look but can't tell if it's too close or not. I know this application needs a low profile air cleaner. Will this one work or is it too tall. Anybody???

THANKS

Okay, I figured out this cleaner will hit the hood. Don't worry, I didn't tear anything up. Now I need to know what the dimensions are for the low profile air cleaner if anyone knows.

Thanks...back to the store to return this one. By the way this was the lowest profile air cleaner Auto Zone had on the shelf.

I did the same thing on my 67 and it was way too big, the hood wouldn't even close. The body style is so similar to mine that I would imagine it will be the same deal.

One thing you could do is get a sheet of carbon paper, tape it and a blank sheet of plain paper to the hood and slowly close the hood - then look for marks on the paper from where the air cleaner would have hit.....

Yeah, I actually got a piece of tape, made a circle with the sticky side stickn up from the air cleaner, let the hood down tell I fell some restriction, lifted it up and I could tell the hood hit the tape. Got a new one on the way from JBG they swore would fit.....and some other goodies.

Thanks,
