acceleration probs?

when i do a slow accelleration (1500-2000 RPM) starting at lower speeds around 10-20mph, i can hear the engine kind of "bounce around in RPM" i watch the Tach and it may fluctuate b/w 1600-1800 RPM or just go up and down, i may give it a little more gas and push past it and then it holds steady, but around that 15-20 range the accel. is usteady and it kind of rocks back n forth about 200-250 rpm. What do yall think is causing this, or what could it be leadin to in the future? o i got a e4od tranny.

Since the problem seems to be when you are loading the engine down, it could be that the ignition is arching to ground. Arcs usually occur under load conditions if there is a path to follow. Check your distributor cap inside and out for arc tracks. You could also have an arc any where along the wires or even near the plugs. If you can get someone to help you, have them apply the emergency brake, foot solidly on the foot brake, put it in drive and press the accelerator a little while you look for any arching. (Just don't put yourself where you are between the truck and something else. It needs to be dark out and someone you can trust ofcourse ).

If you detect arcing I'd probably replace the whole ball of wax, (cap, rotor, wires and plugs). If you haven't done that lately, now may be the time any way.

Really should check the fuel pressure too . Might be a bad fuel pressure regulator as it is run off vacuum which changes with engine load also . /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

yeah it really only happens under light accelleration, under a hard accel. it runs smooth as glass. just kinda wavers a little bit if i dont make a decisive push on the pedal.

bet its yout egr valve or the sensor.i bought one of those code readers and that found the problem
