Was thinking it would be nice to have abs brakes on my 86' bronco. Anyone out there every do this convert from standard to abs and/or it is possible without to much headache?

Hey BD,

This is one I wouldn't touch. Along with all the different lines and sensors, there is the labor to get the same installed...OR more part replacement so as to be able to have all the components in place. Electronics, wiring, sensors, actuators, etc.

I just don't see the the time and money worth the reward.

BUT...others on here have done amazing things...maybe they could help you out.

Good Luck with whatever you decide.

Depends on how skilled you are working on the Bronco. Like Ron said, "I just don't see the the time and money worth the reward." On this side of the internet, I'm inclined to say, that by up-grading your pads, disks, and tires You'll have better stopping distance with out adding ABS. I'd also look into changing the rear drum for disk brakes.

Ditto what the guys above said. You can get a conversion kit for discs, that will be expensive but the, "bang for the buck", will be a lot better. Jeff's Bronco Graveyard sells most of the components you need and give you directions on which calipers you can use. http://broncograveyard.com/bronco/c-1331-rear-disk-brake-kit.html You get a 2% discount from Jeff's if you put in code BZMEMBER and your user ID for this forum. I know that isn't real serious money but it is better than a stick in the eye. :rolleyes:/>
