hi... i bought a 1983 ford bronco 2 months ago for 800 bucks. everything runs but everything leaks.. lol iv rebuilt the trans and im bought to rebuild the 302 motor. im getting a new intake and carb in the mail in a couple of days... the old carb was a 2 bbl and im putting a 4bbl edelbrock in it.. i drive easy and hardly ever put the peddle down and i was hoping this might increase the gas mileage. the bronco sat for bout a year and a half and i got 9 miles to the gallon highway.... the carb im putting on is a electric choke 500cfm..

the question.... what else can i do to increase the mpg?

also now that most of the mechanical is being replaced i want to start on the interior. its in bad shape. the headliner was unrepairable it looked like it was caught on fire. the dash is in pieces. i took the dash out of a 1989 f150.

the question... how well will the 89 dash fit and are there any adapters to hook up to the 89 instrument cluster? where can i get a replacement headliner foam board and all? lmc doesnt have one for this year

I have my doubts that a F150 dash will fit in a B2 as it is a wider trck. The dash from a Ranger might be a good candidate.

If you use an electronic dash, you will need most of the wiring, sensors and computer from the donor vehicle.

Good luck,

Dash probably fit right in, headliner board if not broken can be recovered with perfect results check with auto upholstery shops Probably not gonna find adapters for instruments but should be able to use original instrument cluster in new dash. A brick on wheels dont get good mpg,4bbl carb on 2bbl intake or 4bbl carb and 4bbl intake on 2 bbl heads either way not gonna get the best performance or mpg I would go with the 2bbl and intake on heads that are set up for 2bbl.

OK, reading too fast and didn't get the gist. Yes, the F150 is a drop in,as long as you took the mounting brackets also, see my signature. If you are going to upgrade to an 89 dash, then you will need to get the 89 door panels and the front window post trim. I have a 96 interior that I just put in from the cover over the upper B-post back, it took a little work retrofitting the trim brackets along the window, the old trim was screwed to them, the new trim is held with plastic buttons.

You can't use the 83 instrument cluster with the 89 dash, they just don't fit together. The conversion I'm sure can be done but from the looks of it, it would be a mess. I'm sure it has been done, infact I think I might be able to find an example, but the guy is no slouch when it comes to that kind of thing. It all depends on how much pain you want to go though. Definately a ton of wiring changes plus sensors and harnesses. That is why I left my panel the way it is and only upgraded the interior overhead and B-post back to a 96 style. In fact there are so many changes you would probably be better off getting the 89 computer and harnesses for whatever engine you have.

As far as the 4BBL do it with an intake designed for a 4BBL. A 4BBl can give you better milage than a 2BBl, strange as it may sound.

Good luck,

:)>-
