I have a 76 Bronco with a 302 in it. I pulled the old motor and installed new remanned engine for an 85/86 Mustang. Which water pump should I use or does it matter? I am using Wild Horses Race Harmonic Balancer and the water pump for a 76 302 with a passenger side inlet rubs on it.

Is there a difference in using a drivers side inlet or a passenger side inlet. (I know if I switch to a drivers side inlet I will need a different radiator)

I have not pulled the water pump off, but since it is barely rubbing on the balancer, my plan was to just grind on the water pump casting in order to get my clearance.

Any ideas or silly answers will be greatly appreciated.

I think your topic was discussed in the past but I couldn't find a time frame for you. If I remember correctly, it stated that the newer 5.0 like your 86 is a serpentine belt, while your orig. Broncos 302 is v-belt. The newer pump turns the opposite direction of yours so you need to use the proper belt set up so it will pump correctly. Also as you stated the lower hose is facing the opposite side so most people make a U shaped pipe bent by a muffler shop and still use the orig. rad.

Hope this helps and good luck.
