A/c leak @ shhrader?

forum newbie so thanks for any and all advice...

96 FSB 5.8 A/c worked fine till yesterday, looked under lid and saw oily moisture on the fitting closest to the compressor,not the one where 134 is added.... but didnt hear any leak... opened it today and saw leakage under cap.... like a schrader valve partially stuck open... fiddled with it and it slowed down, but doubt i fixed it... is this valve replaceable, or do i need to replace the whole line?

there is a little bar thingy on the prong just inside the opening of a schrader valve. You can tighten that and it should tighten up the valve. may not be the same as a bicycle tube but it's worth a shot

Service Access Gauge Port Valves

NOTE: The A/C service port fittings used in R-134a refrigerant systems are a two-piece design. The top portion of the fitting is aluminum and is threaded to the bottom part and sealed with an O-ring seal. These fittings can be serviced through the use of either the High Side A/C Fitting Socket D94L-19703-A or the Low Side A/C Fitting Socket D94L-19703-B providing the system is first discharged. Refer to Section 12-00 for discharging procedures. The valve seal is an integral part of the aluminum fitting piece which must be replaced if the seal leaks. The Schrader valve core used on R-12 systems is not used in the R-134a system.The high-side fitting is the largest and special adapters are required to attach service equipment to both the high- and low-side system ports.

Rotunda R-134a High-Side Quick Disconnect 176-R0037 or equivalent.

Rotunda R-134a Low-Side Quick Disconnect 176-R0036 or equivalent.

Rotunda R-134a Manifold Gauge Set 176-R032A or equivalent.

Always reinstall the A/C charging valve caps (19D702) on the service access gauge port valves after servicing the A/C system to prevent dirt from entering the valve or refrigerant system.

Before servicing the climate control system, perform a visual inspection of components. Check all refrigerant line connections for indications of leaks. A refrigerant leak will usually appear as an oily buildup at the point of the leak. This is caused by refrigerant escaping through the faulty connection. As the refrigerant escapes, a minimal amount of refrigerant oil escapes along with the refrigerant. Over time, this refrigerant oil collects around the refrigerant leak and will take on the appearance of a dirty/oily deposit.
