Well the shop I went to to install this A/C Kit from Toms lost the manual / instructions. ....... a week later I end up with

everything messed up sort of, no more fan and the condencer right next to the radiator, I think I remember it belongs just inside the grill?? now I have 3 electric fans and It's running at 220- 230 F ,at the front left head, with the A/C on. still too hot for me.

Anyhow I need to get my hands on another manual to see if they could have left the fan and schroud alone and not bothered with removing it and replacing it with electric fans.. because they put the condenser next to the radiator, just forward of it, there wasent the space to leave the Fan and schroud. they moved the radiator back.

I think they tried to install it with out the manual. Yep I'm ****** ........it was over a grand $$$

Any advice on how and where anyone placed the condencer would be great.

Thanks Chris  /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

I would talk to the owner of the shop and get them either to fix it by contacting Tom's and have them walk through it for them or have them refund your money on what they charged you to install it. If the idiots can't follow directions layed out in a manual, then they shoudn't be screwing around with something like that. Either way, they should fix the problem.

The shop is willing to do whatever Will make me happy and refund me the cost of the electris fans if they can fit the mechanical fan and shroud back in place. It is tight with the compresser almost touching the valve cover. Im not worried about the hp loss going back to the mechanical fan ... at this point I need to drop the water temp 30 deg.

How much heat are the automatic trany lines adding to radiator ? I dont tow . would a separat trany cooler/ radiator help??

My radiator is a 4 core. and I have a 180 thermostat . what is the top temp for a 302 with aluminum heads??

any sugestions would help a bunch Thanks

Just for what it is worth - Had a similar problem on a muscle car - ran 220+ and could not get the temp down.

I added Redline Water Wetter to the radiator and dropped 20 deg off the temp.

Worth a try for $8

Thanks,

I already have the redline water wetter in it. Still 235 Fwith the A/C on.

I might have a pinhole leek in the radiator , near the top driverside bracket.

I should have it pressure tested.

Hi

I finaly had the shop move the condenser infront of the radiator support wall. and was able to move the radiator forward about an inch. the electric fans are gone and the flex fan is back with the schroud. It is a 4 core an the compresser required everything else to move forward ie alt. fan pully and pwr steering pump. the condenser is tilted a bit because the radiator wall has a protrusion infront of the pwr steering pump. My 74 now runs 190 without the ac on, my idel is about 600 rpm. if I step it up in park to 900 rpm it drops to 180. I have a 180 thermostat. with the ac on it runs 200 stop an go or 190 at 50 mph. 2400 rpm or so.

this is good news.
