Okay, so I was really poor and decided that I *needed* to have a tach in my Bronco. So I scoured eBay and found an old Archerkit tachometer. Archerkit makes (or used to make?) a lot of electronics kits for people who like to put together things like that. Transistor radios, etc. Basically a hobby kit.
So I've had it installed for a long time, and I calibrated it the way they told me when I bought it. But I've always wondered how accurate it is.
So, what's the redline for a 5.8L EFI motor? What does it normally idle at?
I'm just trying to get some kind of basis for comparison. According to my tach, I idle at 800-600rpm, and I have yet to get the RPMS over 4k, even under hard acceleration. Do these sound like normal numbers, or should I just buck up and buy a normal tach like everyone else /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />
