Hi guys great site. I just bought a 95 with a 5.8 for 500 and it looks great. The problem is that it wont fire. The guy I bought it from gave me reciepts for a new distributor, ignition control module, distributor cap and rotor and coil. And it still will not fire, when I turn it over the odometer just said error not error 3, just error. So I replaced the computer or pcm. Now the odometer says nothing it just stays blank and it still will not fire. The code reader says 111 system pass. Any and all help will be welcome. Thanks in advance, Mike.

Does it crank over?

When (if) it cranks over is it slow, or sound normal?

Battery at or around 12volts?

When did the guy say it stopped working? Maybe he put the plug wires on wrong, so instead of in the correct firing order, plug 1 is firing when plug 3 is suppost to fire off, and plug 7 is firing off when plug 4 is suppost to fire off.

Emergency fuel cut-off switch reset? If that is turned on/off it will cut off fuel from the system..

Thanks Adam, It does turn over normal and the battery is new.He said it stopped working a couple of weeks before I got it. He said he changed the icm drove for a couple of weeks, cut it off when he tried to start it up it wouldn't fire. I am going to check the wires first thing in the morning. Now I am very new to this but would the wires cause it to not fire at all. Thanks again for your help.

Interesting.. maybe a surge frys the computer? Only way to test that would to be throwing a new computer in there and testing it..but you already did that...

Wires play a huge role in these trucks. Sensors relay what's going on so those need wires.. really hard to say.

I'm by all means, no expert, so I'm not of much help. I like to think of myself like Dr House (A tv show on FOX)..only I don't know all the answers, but I motivate the brain-storming process ^_^ /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

Ok here is where we are. I started the test and the light just stayed brite, it didn't flash. So I took the icm off and had it tested and it is good. Now I am looking for what I think is called a pick up coil inside the distributor, and I am gonna try that. After that I guess I'll change the distributor. Oh I took the coil off another truck and still the same thing, no fire. Merry Christmas everybody and thanks again for the help. And all ideas are welcome.

Hopefully you figure out the issue. Merry Christmas to you as well! We just fixed my Bronco last night..had a weird idle problem. It was the cap and rotor.

If you're like me, and have deep pockets, I'd just replace everything one at a time LOL People say "test it and move on"..but I'd rather replace with new regardless. Most the stuff on my motor is Orig with over 312k miles on it.. rather replace it (while working) then have it fail on me and try to pin-point the issue.

If I come across anything, I'll be sure to share. And like stated above, a manual is a GOOD investment. I have the blue haynes manual, and it has served me well a few times. I alawys keep it in the truck in my tool box

I did the test, I wasn't getting anything from the distributor plug in so I replaced it, and it fired right up. Thanks for the help guys. Now the tranny is slipping so I'm gonna change the filter and fluid tomorrow. I hope it helps. Thanks again.
