this may be completely off track, on my older truck there was a fuseable link that was bad. it would always start the first time, but if i ran it up to temp it would shut off and not start again till it cooled off completely. an old timer(retired for mech) told me to check resistance through my fuseable links- replaced the odd one out- ran great after that. if the truck has not started since the first time it's done this, check the dist., make sure it's turning, i've seen the gear break off too.. good luck

Ditto on Stubby's comment relative to fusable links. You said this is a 93 Bronco, but it sounded like you mentioned some parts that I would expect to be on perhaps a 83, like the ignition module. If that was a typing error, on the 83 ignition there is a pickup inside the distributor. It reacts just as you described when it goes bad, when cool it starts and when hot it will fail and it is just like someone turning off the key. So if you actually have a 351 with a draspark ignition, that is most likely the problem.

Good luck,

That's a puzzle! I would have thought it was the coil. Had a 79 F150 that would do that so we carried a spare coil...my next thought would be ignition switch that something isn't linked up right.

You got me..I'm curious. ;) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

definitly sounds like an ignition module, have you checked to see if you have spark? cause if you haven't you should. Most napa stores will check and ignition module for free.

Right Colleen, that too. However the pickup inside the distributor of a Duraspark II will give that very symptom, "Run when cool and abruptly fail when it warms up".

I cary a complete set of ignition components in a little kit plus some easily constructed test tools. Attached is the proceedure from the 83 EVTM on isolating the culpret, plus instructions for making the tools. If this proceedure is followed, you will nail it ever time.
