I have reviewed other threads on the fuel pump and they are excellent. So my question is:

I have a 91 that i have kept up for many years. I am about to hook a plow to it for the winter. I have noticed that my fuel pump appears to be a bit loud. However, it may have always been like this but I cannot remember. Basically, when you turn your key, you can hear the pump run for seconds and then cut off. When I start the truck, she starts right up. But when I am outside of the truck I can hear the fuel pump pretty well. It seems loud. Is this normal? Or is this a sign of impending failure?

Mine only gets loud when I get to around 1/4 tank of gas.. Once I fill it up it goes away and stays away until again, at a 1/4 tank.. and the less that's in there, the louder it gets!

20yrs almost with no issues yet!

It is reassuring to hear that pump whine.. sorta like an AGT 1500 in an Abrams

Doesn't the pump/motor use the gasoline to help cool it? I try to refill before the tank reaches 1/4 full.
