Hey, I just picked up a 1989 Bronco XLT.

It has a new motor with about 3k on it. I bought it from my wifes coussin. He replaced the motor and barely drove it. It was sitting for a few months with no brakes.

I replaced the driver front line which was broken and is stopping well right now...a little pulsing... rotors

I plan to drive this often to keep the miles off my other cars. I have a 08 Mustang GT/CS (wife's car) and MazdaSpeed 6.

So, my bronco has the 302 that starts right away, idles fine and when I start driving it it is fine. When I stop and park or put it in nuetral, it revs at 1500 rpm. Even when warmed. Why? I was thinkning about the throttle body idle setting, but am afraid to lower it and have a tough time on initial cold start.

Other issue is my AOD tranny. It seems to hold OD too long when I slow. It bangs and drop the RPM to 1000, then shifts. I have been just driving in OD, and when I slow down I shift to D and everything is fine. The only problem is my other two cars area manual, and would like to drive this like an automatic...LOL

Thanks in advance for any help.

Joe

Joe,

I'd start by cking the Throttle pressure. This is a *critical* adjustment for an AOD and not having it correct will *not only* result in a tranny that doesn't shift correctly but it's just about the fastest way to smoke an AOD. If you can't ck it yourself have a shop do it but I would most definately start with that if it's holding the shiftpoints. Bronco are a whole lot of fun but *nobody* likes dumping $2K into a tranny.

Ck this out and see for yourself:

My sincere apologies, I've honestly forgotten who on the board directed me to this link. I'm for sure it was Miesk or one of the Mods but I'll send you an affidavit to return to my lawyer & we'll both blame coors for my memory loss. It's NOT my link & someone here on the forum pointed the way for me, I'm just passing it along to you as they did for me. Adjusting it per the video will get you in the neighborhood and should last you until you have someone ck it w/a gauge and do it properly.

Thanks for the advice. The video looks simple enough. I will try it when I get home from work tomorrow.

Any suggestions on purchasing a full exhaust inexpensively?

Would any 302 shorty header fit fine? I found a few on the web, but there were many less expensive, yet simlar looking headers for the mustang 302?

Any advice?
