good morning ya'll. i have a 89 with a 5.0 fuel injected, 6in suspension lift with a 3in body on 38's. with a 9in rear end.my problem is when it starts up it runs good a little backfire/ popping sound when i give it a lot of gas though. when i put it in drive or reverse it wants to bog down and sounds like it wants to die out. it has no get up and go. but in park and neutral it runs/sounds good.no vaccum leaks that i can tell. good fuel pressure.and this is my mudd truck so no cat/convertor on it.not the origanal motet in it. has a upgraded cam in it. thinking it might be a timing issue not sure . hopefully ya'll can help out this fla. redneck........ thanks scott

Hey Scott,

Ignition problems (bad wires, plugs, cap ,rotor) will show under strain such as you are describing.

What plugs are you using? The wrong plugs will cause this type of problem. I have had bad experiances with Bosch platinum plugs even when the are correct for the engine.

Also you didn't say if you had a MAF system. If you do it could be the problem.
