88 transmission

alright to start i bought an 88' bronco 2 with 8" suspenion lift i think its only actually a 4 or most 6 and 35"super swamper tires it has the v6 and the transmission either needs rebuilt or quick fix when the engine is off i can shift park to 1st without brake shift cable? and if it needs to be overhauled its the auto w/overdrive can anyone tell me which trans it has? and if it could be a quick fix please help

Not sure yet of the trans but I can tell you what the mech. told me since I have the same Problem on my 88. He told me the trans for this year are notorious for doing this and it HAS to be pulled and rebuilt. Even if it's a clutch problem (excluding and external cable problem) the trans has to come out. Best advise I can give is to pull it and tear it apart or take it to a shop for rebiulding and why it's out go head and have all the gears machined or replaced including the rings and gaskets. Sorry I could not offer better news But you going to have to go all the way on this one. TTYL, Steve
