Since this seems to be associated with being stuck in the mud hole, I'd suggest that you check the connectors on the transmission. They may be loose or have crap in them. The E4OD supplies inputs to the EEC Module and also gets output signals from the EEC. The stalling may have been because of moisture getting into the ignition system. Once dried out it was working fine. You might want to see about sealing it up a little better with dialectric grease.
