Hey Woods ,

Welcome.

When was the last time you did a basic "tune up" replace the cap, rotor, plugs, check timing? What condition are the plug wires in? The problem may be something else, like a vacuum leak, or EGR problem, possibly a module, but go through the basics first. Check all vacuum lines for splits or cracks.

You may also have a code or codes stored even if the CEL is not on.

You are working with EFI correct?

Good Luck

Hey Woods,

Check this thread. It has procedures for retrieving codes as well as checking for vacuum leaks.

It comes via miesk5 (Thank you.)

Try a Self Test for Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC)s by my pal, BroncoJoe19

http://broncozone.co..._mode__threaded.

This can be found in the following thread in the 80-96 Bronco Tech Support section.

HELP with self test on EEC for 351w

Good Luck

Ran into this myself a couple of months ago. Changed plugs, plug wires, and fuel filter. It turns out it was just bad gas. Ran some seafoam and stabill through it and it worked itself out the more I blew it out. Good luck
