I have a 96 Bronco and installed a rebuilt 95 150 engine. I used the 96 intake. After installation I found the 95 did not have a place to install the knock sensor and there is no Cam position on the timing cover. Is there anything I can do to not have to remove and replace the 95 timing cover with the 96. I tried just hooking up the knock sensor and tying it off to the side. The problems I am having is the engine stalls when you come to a stop and idles rough here and there when warm.

Last question the Haines book says besides taking off the obvious radiator, fan and harmonic balancer they say you also have to disconnect the motor mounts and disconnect the exhaust manifolds and the transmission lines to the radiator the jack the engine up and put wood blocks under the mounts to drop the oil pan to do the change.

I have also been told this is bull and all you have to do is loosen all the pan bolts and pull the ones holding the timing cover, slide the cover out and install the 96 in over the top of the pan and bolt it in using the gaskets and RTV of course. Can it be done this way? Any help will be appreciated so much.

Actually you dont even have to remove the radiator or jack up the engine . all you have to do is the front of the pan there is a 5/16 bolt ( 1/2 inch wrench ) on each side very front take them out . Then take the 1/4 bolts ( 7/16 wrench ) out 1 on each side now drain the antifreeze and take off the fan and pulleys and pretty much everything on the front of the motor and lay it back on the sides . Now you have a clear shot at the harmonic balancer its a 15/16 socket to get it off and youll need a puller . I take the bolt out and remove the big washer and then reinstall the bolt so you have soemthing to push against with the puller . Once its off you can remove the remaining timing cover bolts . and pull from the top toward you and the cover will come off . Youll see how the rubber pan seal lays in the front . ( I have dont this before lol ) Now the question is why are you doing this ? What happened to yours ? One thing you have to pay close attention too is the direction of the main water ports they are shaped like a D and some yrs they go the other way which meant when you put it all together and yes it will bolt right on the antifreeze wil run out on the floor faster than you can poor it in ( Ive done this as well ) . As for the knock sensor the 351,s do not have the tapped hole in the back of the block for this only the 302 so are you sure your new motor isnt a 351 ? This would account for the rough running especially if you strapped the 5.0 flywheel to the 5.8 . Well theres some things to think about and check . :D /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />
