 Alright so i have a 84 ford bronco 2, I finally fixed most of the problems that i had with it, and now i want to do something for myself! Plus its a birthday present lol. I have the old school radio i think a OEM and I am trying to take it out. what is the easiest and smartest process for this. what type of housing kit should i use for the new head unit. also i have pulled out most of the speakers.. EXCEPT the freakin ones up by the windshield i cant get the very back ****** is there a special tool needed? I understand that i might have to get a new wiring harness and attena cable.
Finally what is the best way to install a CV radio << i think its what it is called, same radio as truck drivers use? <_<
thanks B)
It's a pretty simple change out. First off, you will need to remove the 8 screws that are holding the front dash panel. 4 screws on the bottom are in behind the dash trim pieces, the other 4 go upwards on top of the panel. When removed, you may need to remove the 4 screws holding in the OEM stereo. Go to your local stereo stereo store or Wal*Mart and purchase a stereo installation kit. Follow the directions included. Once you install the correct pieces in the kit, you can then plug in your plug adapter (after butt connecting all the color matched wires to the new stereo plug, be sure to wrap connections in electrical tape). Install your stereo shroud first, then bend the little clips inside for security purposes. Slide the stereo unit in until it locks in place. Turn your key on to test if stereo is working properly. After you have tested it, replace the dash panel then replace the trim pieces.
Replacing the dash speakers is pretty simple. You will need to find a small ***** driver, or a philips bit for a drill. Take the bit and try to use your fingers to turn the ****** you may need to use a pair of pliers if you can't turn the bit with your fingers. No special tools really!
I installed a new stereo, new Planet Audio speakers in the dash and new Planet Audio speakers in the rear in just a couple hours!
