I just got back from Iraq and a buddy gave me an 84 bronco II. It will start and idle. But when i accelerate, the darned thing lurches and has no power. The carb also pops and blows out gas during acceleration. Any ideas? Please tell me that my friend didn't unload a heap on me.

That sounds like a timing problem. Start by using a timing light on it and see where it is set. Unfortunately that could also be a timing chain problem, but it you got it for noting, hay man, you still got a deal

Good luck,

:)>-

its an ignition and carb problem they're wired together and work in conjunction you can replace both with and older ford 2bbl and a msd 5 ignition box youll see more power and better gas mileage
