The back window, The tailgate is a lot of wieght, i think you have to open the back pannel from the inside to take the window down manually.

:D I'm not sure of the 2 bbl CFM, but the stock 351 can only make use of a 650 CFM or below. If you go above that the secondaries won't function at capacity anyway and you will just be wasting money on a carb that is too big for the engine. I have a Holley 4160 and like it because of it's tunability. The Carter is, I am told plug and play, operates great , and a good choice if you don't think you will enjoy learning the science of carb tuning. Edelbrock is another good choice for a less complicated carb but requires some adaption of the throttle linkage.

There is no such thing as a mechanical tail gate window thogh one of the forum members is looking into inventing one. What are your symptoms? Can you hear the motor running but the window stays up? If so, climb in back and pull it out it probabaly needs a new drive gear, cheap fix. If not, climb in back any way :D open the panel and use a battery to test the motor directly reversing the leads reverses the motor, what your tail gate switch does. Can you operate it with the driver switch? If so, make sure the switch is in the center position when attempting to use the key switch on the tail gate. If not in center, it disconnects the key switch. The driver switch has a different power source than the key switch. If neither work it could be the motor or connections. a common problem is the safety switch in the left hand latch. Try pushing on the tail gate, if it is the safety switch this will sometimes make it work. Connectors and broken wires are often a cause.

Good luck,

:)>-

I recently had to replace my stock 83 Bronco carb. Motorcraft issued them with small round ID tags which contained the serial numbers. Mine was gone after 20 years of service. I could of rebuilt it for $30. However, there are too many different jetting combos and stuff like that. I had to buy a Holley 500 cfm 2 barrel. works great but cost $200...

IF you are running the original "variable venturi", tie a rope on it and use as a boat anchor, esp. in dusty parts of the country. This carb can ruin a motor if not in perfect condition. A Holley much better, plus they will answer all questions.
