Hello,

I'm looking to change out parts on my Bronco and trying to delete the CA emissions that came on this. I'm looking to go from the venturi carb and go to a 4 barrel carb so doing a new intake also pretty sure i would need to change out distributor and ECM and the Ignition Control Module. So, i'm trying to find out how much work it will take to delete the emissions that is tied in with the venturi carb and the ECM being CA emissions. So, if anyone has done this or can enlighten me on how much work this will be and/or how they did it and/or what they had to do please let me know.

Thanks

Hey Codiak,

Welcome

What are your goals here? All carbs have venturies, so what is a "venturi" carb?

The simplest thing to do may be change the ECM to a fed spec model from the Ca.

Tell us what year and engine size you're working with, manual, or auto? do you know your gearing?

Give the scoop, and I'm sure you will get good info.

Good Luck

If the truck is still in California, it is illegal to mess with it. if you are converting to a non-EEC arrangement like most of the other Broncos of that vintage, you have a bit of work to do. Mainly stripping off the California emissions equipment. that in effect is eliminating the EEC and replacing the ignition with a Duraspark II system or one of the more modern systems like a HEI or MSD. You certainly need to get a new manifold that will be compatible with the 4BBL you choose. below are some pages out of an 83 which has pretty much the same configuration. It probably wouldn't hurt to to order an EVTM for your Bronco from eBay, http://www.ebay.com/...029db5c&vxp=mtr . Found this one by searching "1982 Ford Bronco EVTM", One of the best troubleshooting manuals you can get. I converted mine to a 4BBL with a MSD ignition, but it was not a California Bronco.

I'm sure what i list below will be incomplete. You will learn a lot about your truck along the way.

Good luck,
