I need some help adjusting the automatic trans kickdown on my 79 Bronco. I never really paid attention until today when somebody pulled close behind me going very fast that it doesn't work. I stepped down on the gas hard and it did not shift down a gear, even though it did speed up fairly well without it. What do I need to do to get it working? It still has the 2-barrel carb. Maybe some pics? The previous owner has the linkages on the carb kinda rigged up, it needs to be done right so the motor is getting its full potential.

Also the there is not much gas pedal. Meaning it is very close to the floor. How do I fix this to get more throttle or is it supposed to be like that? My pickup with a 302 has alot of pedal. So does my 79 parts truck with a 460 in it.

I looked at another truck today with a 351m. Now I know that both springs for the kcikdown on mine are gone. Also the one I looked at had an adjustable throttle linkage, not a cable like mine. I think the previous owner took stuff off and forget where it went and just said ah the heck with it.
