Your post is a little confusing. What is it exactly that you broke ? Are we talking about the rear output shaft, the yoke or the rear output shaft housing ? If it's the yoke you can get one from Jeff's (don't forget to also use a new yoke nut if you remove the yoke). They may well carry the output shaft & housing but don't list either in the catalog so you'll need to give them a call. Advanced Adapters carries an upgraded HD output shaft if you're wanting one of those. If you order a yoke don't forget you'll need the one specific to the 78's.

* '78 used 1310 series U-Joints

* '79 and later use 1330 series U-Joints

* This means if you want to swap driveshafts, axles, or your transfer case between the two years You will have to swap pinion or transfer case yokes or at least one combination U-joint will be required. One thing to note is that the 1330 series U-Joints are the same size used in 77 1/2 and up F250's w/dana 60's.

I went thru this years ago with one of my 78/79's (dropped the front of the rear shaft in the left lane halfway across the Tappen Zee bridge at 5pm on a Friday afternoon. Loads of fun) and trashed the yoke. Grabbed a junkyard replacement only to discover the difference in U-joint sizes when I installed it. Best of luck with it, let us know how you make out.

I ran across a post awhile back on another forum about the leaking NP205 seals, since I need to fix mine on the 79 F-150. there was some talk about using two seals, one in front of the other, to solve the leak on the front output shaft. If I find the thread, I'll post a link, JSM84
