Hey RN,
If you replaced the flasher and still have the problem try this: With the truck in neutral or park and idling watch the flashes. Increase the engine speed slightly. If the flashes become faster there is a problem with the alternator, or voltage regulator, or the circuit is "searching for ground".
Forget what the guys at the part store said.
First check all your grounds. Battery to engine...battery to frame...battery to body, etc. they have to be clean and tight. Many an electrical problem on these trucks was a problem with grounds.
If that doesn't change anything, 2 things are up:
1- your idle speed is set too low and/or
2- you have an issue with the alternator/ voltage regulator.
It was NOT common for blinkers to slow down on anything other than vehicles that had problems that were not addressed.
