for a 6 banger, its a torque monster. you can beat the snot out of that motor and it will ask for more. your gearing is probably 3.08, 3.55, or 3.73. crawl under the back and look for a tag somewhere on the rear end, or peek in the driverside door panel. there should be a tag in the door well with all sorts of codes on it. post those, and the code masters will tell you what you got

Thanks!!! -82 bronco guy who knows very little about his bronco

torque MONSTER. hookd on fonicks werked fer mee!

just messin' with ya. you can easily find 9" rear axles (what you have back there) with 3.55's. if you are keeping her at or barely above stock height, that will be plenty

I had an 86 F-150 with the 300 straight six, that was a good damn engine! I didin't do too much work on it, as it didn't require much. I am jealous, it is a torquey little bastard, and should get pretty good mpg! Good luck! By the way, I took your advice and cleaned the ABS sensors on my 93 Bronco, now the brakes work like a champ! I appreciate it!

I met CODE masters, but i was thinking torque, whatever im ********. I think that i will be going with a 4inch lift and 33's. I dont know if i should go with blocks though, they are cheap, but dont help much when wheeling, right?

blocks are a cheap and effective, albeit somewhat sketchy, way to achieve the lift you want. i dont think the I-6 generates enough torque to spit them, but i wouldnt be surprised if it did. for a 4" and 33's, you'd be looking at 4.10s to be your optimal gearing. that is if you balance wheeling and everyday driving.

Welcome to our world! I have been restoring my 82' fullsize eqipped w/my beloved 300 six and I LOVE IT!. If you want a great place for info for the engine sing up for www.fordsix.com/forum or www.ford-trucks.com is another good one. When i rebuilt the rear, my stock gears were 3.00's. Now I have 3.70 due to the 33's and 3"now but soon to be 6" lift. Im going w/a bds stage II kit. Its more money than the rest, however there realy is a no questions asked warranty. Let me know if you need anything else or have questions. Parts for her are readily available from most places.
