Im going to buy a 6"stage II **** cepek lift. The lift only comes with rear block and no leaf's. i was thinking about either flipping the shackle's or just gfetting a add-a-leaf. What do ya'll think? Maybe keep my smaller blocks and get the add-a-leaf?

The DC II kit comes with a 4.5" block for the rear spring, so you will need the AAL plus about a 2-3" block to replace it. It sounds like the shackle flip may net you 4" of lift, so you might still need the AAL with that set-up, but without the block. Anything you can do to reduce the size/height of a block under the spring pack would be better, IMHO.

The only thing that Im not sure about is that i've heard the shackle flip moves the tires up about 1" So will this look awkward or look rerally funny?I have 3" blocks right now so maybe ill just do a AAL? it would be a whole lot easier.

What does AAL mean anyhow? I don't recommend add-a-leafs b/c the ride quality will be stiff and bouncy. Adding above 4" blocks isn't illegal but isn't the most disirable either. 6" blocks could require traction bars for axle wrap. I always like the rear lower than the front but only 1/2" - 1" max. Have you looked into having your leafs re-arched? You won't get much maybe 1" but with a 4" block and a slight arch added might get you closer without messing with the ride quality.

AAL=Add A Leaf. It depends on your tastes whether or not a shackle flip/reversal will look "funny". If you take a look at other brands of lift kits, you will see that some have the option of the AAL with a block. In my case, I opted for new lifted spring packs, and still needed a 1" block to level out the rear with the front. Each kit will give you a little different lift, so you will have to fit the kit and make changes as needed.

I just finished installing the Sky Mfg. shackle reversal and it looks great. It put my back end up abouit 1/2" higher than the front and the ride is much better than the with the blocks I removed. My wife has the camera at her parents' house, but by looking at the tire in the wheelwell with the ***** eye it looks good. I have a 4" lift and would recommend the shackle reversal for the rear rather than the blocks anyday.

EB, so it didnt real move the axels forwar much? Bc for the what $150 its worth it. Would adding the 2-3" AAL and having noe blocks be to bouncy or ride even nicer? Im non the road more than off but when im off its always a bumpy ride :p /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" /> Did you have to take out the gas tank in order to get to punch out the rivets? Im not putting on the lift but if I can tell the guy who is maybe it will be worth it in labor?

blocks **** and are dangerous. going to a dual AAL would be alot better choice. the shackle flip works great unless you plan to tow anything.

lets see some pics

For wheeling the Ideal set up is a full spring rear leaf pack.

Add a leafs are much better than blocks but I would seriously

consider saving up for the springs, they will run you about $150 each but are much safer to drive on.

The shackle flip takes a bit of fab work if you feel comfortable with it

and is, in my opinion, just as effective as the full leaf pack lift.

Yeah The leaf packs would be best but its not a serious off road rig. I still have to wait until the stage II kit's radius arms are made again, they are on back order til may

I just got back from vacation so I haven't been able to get online. Here is a picture I took of my Bronco today. It has the Sky Mfg flip installed and sitting on 32x11.5x15 tires until I can afford to upgrade. I picked up rims from a friend of mine that wrecked his CJ so I just gotta find tires now. The flip moved the axle forward a little, but not much and the ride is much better than when I had the blocks.

I'm running a Rough Country 4" lift with the radius arm drop brackets. I like the way it sits and the brackets are heavy duty, but I've run into problems with the front coils bending sideways under heavy flex and denting the rear of my quad shocks up front. The kit came with blocks for the rear, which I didn't like so I removed the blocks and did the Sky Mfg shackle flip. The Bronco rides really nice right now and is getting ready to get the tires upgraded to 33s or 35s. I haven't decided yet. Here is a picture of the dented shock from the front coil and a couple others from where I've flexed the suspension pretty hard so you can see what it looks like when wheeling.

EB, I have the same probelm with my fron springs, the RH side isn't straight. It slightly bent towards the bottom. Yeah Im really intrested in doing the shakle flip by Sky. I know it adds a good 4in's but I wont be able to get the **** Cepek 6" kit unitl the end of May b/c its on back order(well the radius arms and new brackets are). So im just wondering about DD safety bc I have my 10 mon old in the back.

My lift feels very safe. I use the Bronco for towing Jeeps for friends of mine when we go wheeling and I hardly know they are back there. I have two kids that ride in the back of the Bronco all the time. It feels stiffer and doesn't lean nearly as bad now as it did with the original suspension, but that's it had over 100,000 miles on the original shocks so it's hard to tell if new shocks would have made the stock suspension ride as well as the lifted suspension rides.
