What's up y'all,

On the 1987 5.0, there are what look like dual throttle bodies. The mass-air-conversion uses a Y-pipe to reduce those two to one pipe for intake. What I want to know is, would there be an advantage to replacing the throttle bodies? If so, how large diameter should I go? I notice there are twin bodies on the plenum stock...but all replacements seem to be single bodies. Do you buy two of them? Thanks.

It is a twin bore TB; also described as a 2 valve unit..

some notes for you:

"One of

the biggest misconceptions about throttle

bodies is that installing a high-flow

unit (whether larger or of an improved

design) will result in a gain in power.

Building a better throttle body, or at

least one that flows more air than a production

piece, is oftentimes a simple

matter of increasing the flow area. By

this we mean that a 70-mm throttle body

(like the 2-valve unit from Ford Racing)

will usually outflow a smaller 65-mm

version ...

piece). Unfortunately, the simple fact

that one throttle body outflows the other

does not guarantee power gains. Power

gains are only realized by increasing

the flow through the motor, not just

improving a single component. The

exception to this rule is when the single

component happens to be the restriction

in the system that is limiting the engine
